Stay Ahead of Your Pet’s Health Issues with Wellness Exams

Just like people go to the dentist twice a year and get an annual physical, your furry family member needs at least an annual pet check-up. Animals under the age of one year and senior pets should receive preventive care more often.

What Happens at a Pet Check-Up?

Each exam starts with obtaining your pet’s vital signs. We spend several minutes getting caught up with your pet’s health by asking you to describe how things are going at home. Your pet’s veterinarian will let you know which vaccinations are due at this time. The wellness exam is also ideal for discussing parasite control, pet nutrition, dental care, and conducting a heartworm test.

Pet Surgery

Our team of skilled veterinarians is prepared to provide emergency pet surgery as well as attend to more routine matters. Common examples of the latter include spay or neuter surgery and tooth extraction. Emergency surgery might include removing a non-edible object caught in your pet’s throat, setting a bone that your pet broke when struck by a car, and stitching up bite marks caused by another animal. Whether your pet needs routine or emergency surgery, you can depend on our veterinarians and support staff to keep them comfortable from start to finish.

Dental Care at Crosspointe Animal Hospital

When you consider the fact that pets are incapable of brushing their own teeth, it is easy to understand how susceptible they are to developing dental disease. Common problems that we see in our practice include broken teeth, loose teeth, gum disease, abscessed teeth, and tooth discoloration.

Unfortunately, untreated dental issues in pets increase the risk of infection throughout their body. Your dog or cat could even end up with damaged organs. We know you don’t want to see that happen, and the best way to prevent it is to schedule routine cleanings for your pet just as you do every other member of your family.
