Jerry Hinn, DVM
Hospital Director

Dr. Hinn is a Virginia native and received his DVM degree from the University of Georgia. His special interests include surgery, veterinary dentistry, birds and exotic pet care as well as that of cats and dogs. Another strong interest that he has developed is that of nutrition and vitamin supplementation. In addition to local and national veterinary associations, he is a member of the Critical Care Society, the American Veterinary Dental Association, and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.
 Dr. Hinn has one kitty named Purry.

Erin Mairs, VMD
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Mairs received her veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania.  Her interests include radiology, internal medicine and client education. She enjoys spending time with her 2 cats Chester and Tiger.

Ellen Burbrink, DVM

Dr. Burbrink received her veterinary degree from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA. Her interests include dentistry, surgery, and internal medicine. She is recently married, a die-hard Hokie fan, and enjoys any and everything Star Wars related. She also loves to spend time with her two Boston Terriers, Rommel and Lucy.

Jennifer Surace, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Surace received her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Her veterinary interests include surgery and internal medicine. She is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and enjoys spending time with friends, watching or participating in a variety of sports, and being outdoors with her dog Marley.

Candice Berkshire, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Berkshire is a recent transplant from the Seattle, WA area.  She and her husband made the 3,000 mile trip with their Doberman puppy Tucker.  Dr. Berkshire holds a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Washington State University, and received her DVM there as well.  Some of her special interests include nutrition, complementary and alternative medicine, preventative medicine and reproductive medicine.  She is a member of the AVMA, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Association of Veterinary Nutrition.  When not working, Dr. Berkshire enjoys spending time in DC, dancing (including country, swing, and Argentine Tango), and trying new restaurants.

Jennifer Alden, BS LVT
Licensed Veterinarian Technician
Ms. Alden is a Licensed Veterinarian Technician and has a bachelors degree in nursing.  She spent 8 years on the Board of Veterinary Medicine in Virginia. She has a young daughter and several feline friends.  She spends her free time volunteering at spay-neuter free clinics in Northern Virginia.

Kathryn Newell, BS LVT
Licensed Veterinarian Technician
Mrs. Newell graduated in 2003 from Wilson College with a bachelors of science degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. After college she moved back home to upstate New York where she worked as a LVT at a 3 doctor small animal hospital for 3 years.  She recently moved to the Northern Virginia area to marry her husband Brian.  In their spare time she and Brian enjoy camping as well as the many sights DC has to offer.
